My Goalkeeping System

Chapter 382 Keeping The Treble Dream Alive

They thought they had something going when they closed it down to just two goals and now and a few minutes later they were back to being three goals down.

They had just three minutes left for the normal match time to hit ninety and at this moment, it was pretty much clear that the match was over.

Frono FC players were aware of that now as their gameplay began to slow down minute after minute.

After the match hit the ninetieth minute, the official with the board raised his board to show that there was going to be eight minutes of added time.

Unique FC players and fans would have surely complained if they were just one goal up but they were ahead of Frono FC with three goals so there was nothing to worry about, and besides, it didn\'t look like Frono FC could cause any trouble for them with the way they were currently playing.

Unique FC dominated the game for six minutes of that eight minutes of added time until Mateo won a free-kick about thirty yards away from the goalpost and close to the sideline on the right.

He could definitely have a go from there but it was best not to and try a cross instead.

"Probably the last spot kick of the game, will Unique FC be able to do anything with this one? And if they don\'t, it doesn\'t really matter." Jim commented.

Mateo was standing over the ball now waiting for the referee\'s whistle while the referee made sure that everything was ready.

He had a three man wall in front of him but that wasn\'t bothering him, taking the free kick wasn\'t even bothering him at all, whatever happened, they were going to move to the next round.

After making sure that everything was ready, the referee blew his whistle and now it was up to Mateo to play a carefree free kick.

The winger slowly took three steps backward before he slowly closed up on the ball and sent it flying over the wall and toward the box.

That ball had quite the elevation to it and that was the reason why all the players near the edge of the box failed to get their head on it.

The ball flew toward the left side of the goalpost where Minino was standing and was surprisingly unmarked.

The midfielder brought the ball down with his chest and just before the players around him could get to him, he sent the ball rolling toward the goalpost.

The ball was sent rolling toward Emerson but he wasn\'t able to stop it as the ball went through his legs to enter the goalpost.

"Wow, that\'s a sixth goal," Steve commented.

"It\'s six-two, Unique FC got a six-goal and it\'s Minino at the end of it!" Jim exclaimed.

Minino went crazy after that goal as he rushed to the ball picked it up and kicked it back at the net as hard as he could before screaming something.

<Looks like you guys have this one in the bag, to the next round it is>

\'Yeah, in the next round, I can\'t believe we actually scored six against them.\'

<Well, they scored five against you, so this is a well-struck revenge>

After that goal, the referee blew his whistle thrice to bring the match to an end.

"There\'s the whistle we\'ve all been waiting for," Jim commented. "It\'s all smiles on the faces of Unique FC players as they advance to round two of the tournament with flying colors."

"I know I was more on the side of them beating Frono FC but I never expected them to blow them away like this," Steve said.

"Well, they knocked out Unique FC from the competition last season in a match where they scored five goals against them but the scoreline difference was only two goals, it wasn\'t as brutal as this, Unique FC struck back with no mercy." Jim expressed.

The fans felt at the top of the world to finally see their team get back at Frono FC for what they did to them last season.

You could tell how exhilarated they were by how intensely they were chanting now.

"Frono FC never took the lead for once and it was clear that Unique FC were the superior team from the start but still, this is one of the best matches I\'ve watched so far this season, the unexpected goals got me every time." Jim expressed.

"Yeah, I\'m sure this was more interesting than watching Supreme United trash division two side Blueville United seven goals to nothing," Steve said.

"Yeah, that is an intense scoreline, they totally dominated Blueville in that match and now they\'re in round two alongside Unique FC." Jim articulated. "Unique FC weren\'t able to meet last season although it was pretty obvious what was going to happen if they did but it sure is going to be pretty interesting if they meet this season in the quarterfinals, semi-finals, or even better, the finals."

"That sure will be interesting, if both of them take different routes and succeed in making it to the finals," Steve remarked.

After that, the two brought their broadcast to an end.

The man of the match award was obviously given to Mateo, a hat trick and two assists was not something anybody could achieve in a match.

This was a phenomenal match for him and giving him a 9.9 rating was no exaggeration.

A lot of Frono FC players including Darwin of course, stormed down the tunnel as soon as the referee blew his whistle to bring the match to an end but every Unique FC player stayed to greet the fans who gave them their voice throughout the game and after getting that over with, it was time to head down the tunnel.

Mateo was walking alongside Dave when they ran into Emma as expected.

"Hey, you two." She said as soon as she spotted them.

"Oh, hey, Emma and…."

The goalkeeper paused in between his words to look around.

"Are you looking for Amber?" Emma asked.

"Yeah, where is she?"

"She\'s on a break and won\'t be back until Sunday, remember"

"Oh, I forgot about that, even after we ran into Sofia and her at the hotel we were staying," Dave said before slapping his palm into his face.

"Wait, Sofia, isn\'t that the Spanish girl who made that painting for Mateo?" She asked.

"Yeah, that\'s her."

"And the both of you ran into her and Amber at the hotel you were staying in?"

"Well, it turns out they are both really good friends, like they\'ve been friends for quite a long time," Dave explained.

"They\'re friends?" She was quite shocked as she slowly turned her gaze to Mateo. "That must have been really tough."

"Huh? What are you talking about?" Mateo asked as soon as he noticed her gaze shift to him.

"Oh, never mind." She said before shaking her head. "I have to go find someone to interview from your team."

"Huh? You aren\'t going to pick any of us?"

"No, the both of you while interesting on the pitch are pretty boring during interviews and I heard Minino says pretty interesting things on camera." She expressed before walking away from the two to find someone.

\'But she\'s the one that told me not to say controversial things during interviews.\'

<It doesn\'t take saying controversial things to say something interesting and even when trying to say something controversial, you\'re still boring>

\'Wow, thanks for the compliment, Catherine.\'

<You\'re welcome>

After taking care of the things some of them had to take care of outside, all the players were back in the locker room now.

The room was fairly quiet until Minino came in and lit the fire like he always does whenever they win an important match.

It was like the only times he was serious was whenever he was on the pitch or after losing a match, important or not.

\'Oh, just show me my post-match rewards, Catherine.\'

<Roger that>

[ Victory rewards ]

[ Six crucial saves: +60 exp ]

[ Assisted a goal: +100 exp ]

[ Match rating: 7.6 ]

\'A hundred and sixty exp, that\'s something at least.\'

[ 370/2015 exp ]

\'That\'s a lot of experience points required, but it\'s not like it matters unless I\'m going to unlock a new skill in the next level, am I?\'

<No>

\'Oh, okay.\' He replied subconsciously. \'But why did I stop getting skill points from quests and just from leveling up only.\'

<That\'s because the skill points you will accumulate once you get to the level to unlock your last skill will be enough to unlock the skill and then you won\'t have any more skill points>

\'Oh, okay, that makes sense.\'

[ Skill upgrade points: 141 ]

<Don\'t you think it\'s about time to level some of your skills up?>

\'Yeah, but I think I\'ll hold off on doing that for now.\'

<If you think that\'s what\'s good for you then, okay>

With this victory against Frono FC, Unique FC kept their treble dream alive and now they just had to beat West Ham United on Thursday to increase their chance of making it to the knockout stage of the Europa Conference League.
